Crew A competent and qualified crew consists of a skipper, two deck hands and when required, a hostess or barman handles the drinks and catering for guests. Safety equipment includes a life raft, life jackets and 2-way radios. The Waterfront and the maritime authorities safety standards commonly known as the compulsory SAMSA regulations are strictly adhered to. Design Tigresse was designed by A. Simons as a charter yacht for a maximum of 60 passengers. Built in Cape Town in 1997. Construction material consists of polyester resin fibreglass with a balsa wood core and laminated marine plywood bulkheads. Her grt is 27.5T and net is 19.87T with an overall length of 17.65m.The beam is 9.2m with a depth of keel 1.5m. Tigesse is powered by 2*50 hp/mo Volvo Penta motors with a 2:1 ratio mechanical gearbox and straight pr. shafts. Sails Maximum motoring speed at 2000rpm is about 9.5. The mast + boom on the Tigresse are made of Epo-Coated aluminium and the mast are 25m high from the line. The total sail area is 296 sq meters with the mainsail at 106 sqmeters. The jib is 65 sq meter. The maximum speed achieved under sail by the Tigresse to date is 22knots. |
